Dialog Semiconductor: may merge with Synaptics
(CercleFinance.com) - The German group Dialog Semiconductor (DS) is in talks with Synaptics for a possible merger according to Bloomberg.
Dialog Semiconductor is expected to suffer from lower orders from Apple: note that in early June it warned about reduced order volumes from Apple as from this year.
Apple will indeed source energy savings chips for its smartphones from an additional supplier, which should reduce DS' estimated revenues for 2018 by approximately 5%.
Both groups have fairly similar market capitalisations (1.35 billion euros for Synaptics, vs. 1.15 billion euros for Dialog Semiconductor) according to Aurel BGC.
A merger between these groups would make Dialog less dependent on Apple, Aurel BGC said.
