ITV: EU clears acquisition of Digital UK
(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has cleared the acquisition of joint control of Digital UK by Channel 5, together with Digital UK's current controlling members, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), ITV Network and Channel 4, all of which are from the UK.
Digital UK provides free-to-air ('FTA') services on a digital terrestrial television network and distribution of audiovisual content via Internet Protocol in the UK.
The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns given the absence of horizontal overlaps and vertical links between the activities of Channel 5 and Digital UK.
