Carnival: beats consensus, but cuts targets

(CercleFinance.com) - On Tuesday Carnival announced Q1 net profit that is down 10% at 338 million dollars, meaning an EPS of 49 cents, five cents above the consensus.

CEO Arnold Donald said that these results were driven by revenue growth thanks to higher capacity and on-board expenditure, which offset cost increases, the weight of the fuel bill and FX factors.

However, these headwinds have led the Anglo-American cruise giant to reduce its FY adjusted EPS targets to between 4.35 dollars and 4.55 dollars, compared to a previous target range of 4.50 dollars to 4.80 dollars.
