BT: chooses Nokia's platform ahead of 5G
(CercleFinance.com) - British telecoms giant BT is deploying Nokia's platform to boost its backbone network capacity in preparation for a rise in residential and mobile traffic driven by the fiber-to-the-home and 5G technologies.
The move comes as traffic across BT's core network is growing at a pace of 40% per year, driven by video and gaming over high speed fixed and mobile broadband.
BT will be one of the first operators in the world to introduce the Nokia 7750 SR-s router platform in its backbone network.
