AstraZeneca: anti-Covid treatment approved in EU
(CercleFinance.com) - AstraZeneca announced on Tuesday that Evusheld has been approved in the European Union for the treatment of Covid-19 in adults and adolescents who do not require oxygen but who are at risk of progressing to a severe form of the disease.
The European Commission's authorisation - which covers patients aged 12 years or older and who weigh at least 40 kg - is based on the results of a Phase III study.
This trial showed that intramuscular administration of Evusheld, a long-acting antibody combination, provided "statistically significant" protection of patients against severe forms of Covid and eventual death compared to a placebo.
