AstraZeneca: reports positive results for anaemia drug
(CercleFinance.com) - AstraZeneca's roxadustat significantly increased haemoglobin levels in patients with anaemia from chronic kidney disease in two phase III trials, the drugmaker said on Friday.
The improvement was seen both in non-dialysis-dependent and dialysis-dependent patients, the company said.
Anaemia - which occurs when the body has fewer healthy red blood cells than normal - is a common condition amongst patients with chronic kidney disease.
Roxadustat is currently approved in China for the treatment of anaemia in patients with chronic kidney disease.
