AstraZeneca: Forxiga label update approved
(CercleFinance.com) - On Monday AstraZeneca announced that the European Commission has approved an update to the marketing authorisation for Forxiga, its treatment for adults with type-2 diabetes.
The Forxiga notice will now include the results of a phase III study demonstrating the drug's positive effects on the cardiovascular system, as well as data on the renal function, the pharmaceutical company said in a brief statement.
AstraZeneca says that the trial in question included over 17,000 patients in 33 countries and demonstrated the safety of using Forxiga by diabetic patients, who are at high risk of cardiovascular complications, including heart failure.
