AstraZeneca: seals promotion deal with Chinese drugmaker
(CercleFinance.com) - AstraZeneca has been granted the exclusive rights to promote Luye Pharma's Xuezhikang capsules, a new cholesterol drug made by fermenting red yeast rice, in mainland China.
Under the terms of the deal, the Anglo-Swedish drugmaker will be responsible for the promotion of these capsules, while Luye will retain asset rights, commercial sales rights, and other product-related rights, aside from product promotion.
This is the first time that a multinational pharmaceutical company has gained exclusive authorization in China to promote an innovative drug that has been independently developed by a Chinese pharmaceutical company.
