AstraZeneca: FDA approves expanded use for Faslodex.
(CercleFinance.com) - The US Food and Drug Administration has expanded the use of AstraZeneca's Faslodex in breast cancer, the drugmaker said on Monday.
The FDA has approved Faslodex as monotherapy for expanded use in women with hormone-receptor positive (HR+), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 negative (HER2-) advanced breast cancer, who have gone through the menopause and who have not received previous endocrine therapy.
The FDA's decision was based on a 20% reduction in the risk of disease progression or death compared to anastrozole, a current standard treatment option, AstraZeneca said.
