GlaxoSmithKline: names HSBC's Symonds as board chairman
(CercleFinance.com) - Jonathan Symonds, an independent non-executive director from HSBC, will succeed Philip Hampton as non-executive chairman of the GSK board with effect from September, the British drugmaker said.
Symonds - currently deputy group chairman of HSBC - is a former chief financial officer of Novartis and AstraZeneca, and has been a non-executive director of Diageo.
The appointment was approved by the board and follows a succession process that was undertaken by its nominations committee, GSK said.
