GSK: EU approves Pfizer deal, subject to conditions
(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission said on Thursday it had approved GlaxoSmithKline's acquisition of Pfizer's consumer health business, subject to conditions.
After the Commission said it was concerned that the acquisition would reduce competition for topical pain management products, the companies offered to divest Pfizer's pain relieving cream brand ThermaCare, Brussels said.
For topical pain management products, GSK sells the Volta-branded products, which are mainly marketed as medicated gel, creams, spray, and also patches.
