GSK: profit and sales up in 2018
(CercleFinance.com) - British drugmaker GSK said that it has improved its operating performance in 2018, thanks to new product launches, such as the shingles vaccine Shingrix.
Total operating profit came in at 5.48 billion pounds, up 34% relative to 2017 — meaning EPS of 73.7 pence.
Quarterly turnover rose by 2% to 30.8 billion pounds.
In 2019, GlaxoSmithKline now expects adjusted EPS to decline by between 5% and 9% at constant exchange rates, reflecting the recent approval of a substitutable generic competitor to Advair in the US.
The GSK share is up 0.5% today, outperforming the European drugs sector which is down 0.1%.
