GSK: first two-drug HIV treatment approved in Japan

(CercleFinance.com) - ViiV Healthcare's single pill, two-drug regimen for the treatment of HIV has been granted marketing approval by Japanese regulators, the GSK unit said on Monday.


Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) has approved Juluca - which combines two drugs within a single-pill - for the maintenance treatment of HIV-1 infection.

Juluca is the the first single pill, 2-drug regimen, approved for the maintenance treatment of HIV.

ViiV Healthcare is a HIV-specialised drugmaker created in 2009 by GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer.
