GSK: unveils collaboration with 23andMe on genetics
(CercleFinance.com) - GSK has made a 300-million-dollar equity investment in 23andMe as part of a four-year collaboration that will focus on the development of new medicines using human genetics.
The partnership will combine 23andMe's large-scale genetic resources and advanced data science skills, with the genetic service which already has over 5 million customers, GSK said.
23andMe offers the opportunity to learn more about personal genetic profiles, but customers can also choose to participate in research and contribute their information to the company's database.
The move comes as GSK set out its new approach in research and development (R&D) today at a presentation to investors in London.
