Tesco: announces partnership aimed at tackling emissions
(CercleFinance.com) - Tesco on Friday announced an electricity partnership with renewable energy investor Low Carbon, which is aimed at starting three new solar farms in the UK.
The farms in Essex, Anglesey and Oxfordshire will generate up to 130GWh of energy per year, enough to power 44,828 three-bedroom homes, and help Tesco procure more renewable energy, the company said.
The move is part of the British retailer's commitment to use 100% renewable electricity by 2030.
The project comes alongside the fitting of thousands of solar panels across its UK stores, with 60 shops having already been fitted out.
This month Tesco also put 30 electric delivery vans on the road in Greater London, with plans to have a fully electric home delivery fleet by 2028.
