bp: invests $269m in Cherry Point Refinery (US)
(CercleFinance.com) - bp today announced plans to invest 269 million dollars in three projects at its Cherry Point refinery in Washington State to improve refinery efficiency, reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and increase renewable diesel capacity.
Specifically, the projects will include hydrocracker upgrades (169 million dollars), water cooling infrastructure improvements (55 million dollars) and doubling the refinery's renewable diesel production capacity to approximately 2.6 million barrels per year (45 million dollars).
bp says that these projects are expected to generate over 300 local jobs over the next three years.
These investments are in line with bp's goals of achieving "net zero" in all its operations by 2050 at the latest and reducing the carbon intensity of products sold by 50% by 2050 at the latest.
