bp: Lightsource buys five solar projects in Spain
(CercleFinance.com) - bp's Lightsource has acquired an 845 megawatt (MW) solar portfolio in Spain, as the oil and gas giant seeks to expand in the renewable energy market.
In a statement on Monday, Lightsource said it has secured a pipeline of five sites across the regions of Castilla la Mancha and Castilla y Leon.
The company said it now plans to work with the seller - Iberia Solar - to lead the projects to financial close and "ready-to-build" status, with construction beginning in 2022.
Lightsource now has a total of 2.25GW of projects in development or under construction in Spain, Europe's largest solar market.
