BP: invests in methane leak detection
(CercleFinance.com) - On Tuesday the British oil company BP announced an investment of 5 million dollars in Satelytics, a US company specialised in spectral imaging software that detects environmental changes.
Based on data collected from satellites, aircraft and drones, Satelytics' algorithms make it possible to identify certain risks that are likely to appear within industrial production sites, such as methane leaks.
For the record, BP has set itself the goal of installing methane emission measurement tools at all its oil and gas processing sites by 2023, while halving the use of methane in its activities.
