BP: considers petrochemicals complex with Socar in Turkey
(CercleFinance.com) - British oil giant BP is in talks with Azeri state energy company Socar to create a new petrochemicals joint venture in Turkey, the companies said on Thursday.
The groups have signed an initial agreement to evaluate the creation of a joint venture that would build and operate a "world-scale petrochemicals complex."
The proposed facility in western Turkey would produce 1.25 million tonnes perof purified terephthalic acid (PTA) annum, which is used for food and beverage containers, packaging films and other consumer applications.
