BP: two new oil discoveries in North Sea

(CercleFinance.com) - British oil major BP said on Wednesday it had made two new oil discoveries in the North Sea.

The Capercaillie well, which is located in the Central North Sea, has been drilled to a total depth of 3,750 metres and has found light oil and gas-condensate, BP said.

Meanwhile, west of Shetland, the Achmelvich well - which the company operates in collaboration with Shell (28%) and Chevron (19%) - has been drilled to a depth of 2,395 metres and has also found oil, it added.

For the record, BP expects to double production in the North Sea to 200,000 barrels a day by 2020.
