BP: to expand gas partnership with India's Reliance.
(CercleFinance.com) - BP and India's Reliance Industries have agreed to expand their partnership to develop already-discovered deepwater gas fields.
The two companies said on Thursday that they plan to award contracts to progress development of several deep water gas fields off the east coast of India.
New production is expected from 2020, for a total investment which should represent about six billion dollars.
With a population of 1.3 billion people, India today consumes over 5 billion cubic feet a day of natural gas and aspires to double gas consumption by 2022.
