British American Tobacco: official investigation now opened.
(CercleFinance.com) - Britain's Serious Fraud Office has opened a formal investigation into British American Tobacco, the cigarette making company said on Tuesday.
This morning the SFO also confirmed that it is investigating suspicions of corruption in BAT's business conduct, coupled with its subsidiaries and associated persons.
In a press release, British American Tobacco said it has been co-operating with the Serious Fraud Office and that it intends to co-operate with that investigation.
The group said it is itself investigating, through external legal advisers, allegations of misconduct.
