BAE Systems: to launch satellites in 2024
(CercleFinance.com) - BAE Systems is set to launch its first cluster of multi-sensor satellites into low Earth orbit in 2024 to provide high-quality, real-time information and intelligence for space to military customers.
Known as Azalea, the cluster of four satellites will use a range of sensors to collect visual, radar and radio frequency data, which will be analysed by machine learning embedded on advanced processors to provide the resulting intelligence safely anywhere in the world while remaining in orbit.
The group said that this launch in 2024 will be a major step forward for the UK's sovereign space capability, with the group working together to create a step change in military intelligence and capability. The group's technology will enable surveillance of adversaries, while providing substantial civilian benefits by assisting humanitarian response missions, it added.
