Diageo: completes first tranche of share buyback
(CercleFinance.com) - Diageo said on Thursday that it has completed the first tranche of its share buyback program, which is scheduled for the financial year ending 30 June 2019.
During the first tranche of the program, which ended on 31 January 2019, Diageo bought back 47,920,097 shares worth 1.3 billion pounds.
The group's board approved an increase to the share buyback program. The British spirits maker now plans to return up to 3 billion pounds to shareholders.
This means that a second tranche of up to 1.7 billion pounds will now be repurchased.
Its shares are currently up 1.7% in London on Thursday.
