Diageo: towards a sale of certain US brands?
(CercleFinance.com) - Bryan Garnier has announced rumours that Diageo is in the process of selling some spirits brands in the United States, including Goldschlager, Popov, and Myer's Rum and Romana, through a single transaction.
According to the broker, the British alcoholic beverages giant should confirm this proposed sale when it publishes its annual results; several private equity companies appear to be interested.
"We estimate these brands, which represent only 3% of the group's US sales, could be sold for approximately GBP500m," Bryan Garnier said, explaining that Diageo would like to refocus on higher-end labels in the US.
