Worldline: chosen by ECB for prototyping exercise
(CercleFinance.com) - This morning Worldline announced that it has been selected by the European Central Bank (ECB) to create a prototype user interface dedicated to the digital euro.
More specifically, Worldline has been selected to create the specific use case of offline peer-to-peer payments for the digital euro, focusing on payments between individuals.
The prototyping exercises aim to test the ability of the technology used for the digital euro to be integrated into the various use cases.
The prototyping exercise is an important component of the ongoing two-year exploratory phase of the digital euro project. This exercise is expected to end in Q1 2023.
Worldline wants to take an "active part" in the development of the payments industry by contributing to strategic and transformative projects such as the Digital Euro.
