Areva: start of Olkiluoto 3 Cold Functional Tests.
(CercleFinance.com) - After causing quite some headaches for Areva, Olkiluoto 3, the Finnish EPR nuclear reactor project, is seeing positive developments, albeit with serious delays.
The Cold Functional Tests have just started, and will be followed by the Hot Functional Tests, which are planned for Q4.
“The main objective of these Cold Functional Tests is to conduct the hydraulic tests on the primary circuit at a progressive test pressure. In order to attain this level of pressure, the main challenges entail starting up and using the majority of the systems linked to the main primary circuit (e.g. the primary pumps)”, explained the nuclear contractor.
The Group adds “the completion of the main electro-mechanical systems and the works for completion of the plant are underway”.
