Technicolor: Interdigital makes firm offer for R&I
(CercleFinance.com) - Technicolor announces that it has received a firm offer for the acquisition of its Research & Innovation (R&I) activities and has entered into exclusive negotiations with InterDigital, which already acquired its patent licensing activities last year.
Frederic Rose, Technicolor's CEO, said: "This proposed transaction continues the simplification of the Group's structure while ensuring that its R&I teams join a world class technological organization. As a result, Technicolor will henceforth be able to focus its resources solely on its operating businesses."
Through this agreement, Technicolor would significantly reduce its costs as from 2020, and its right to receive 42.5% of future cash flow from InterDigital's patent licensing activities in consumer electronics would be modified.
