Suez: major contract in Indonesia

(CercleFinance.com) - According to an announcement late on Thursday morning, the North Sumatra Province Water Company (PDAM Tirtanadi) has awarded Suez a contract to expand the drinking water plant in Medan, Indonesia's third-largest city.

The 25-year extension of the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contract amounting to 191 million euros provides for the financing, construction, operation and maintenance of two additional production sites of drinking water at the resort of Medan.

Intended to improve access to drinking water for the increasing population of Medan, this project aims to contribute to achieving targets set by local authorities to supply water to over 84% of the country's population by 2020, compared with 73.2% today.
