Getlink: 2% fall in passenger traffic in June
(CercleFinance.com) - Channel Tunnel operator Getlink reports that its passenger shuttles transported 235,833 passenger vehicles last month, down 2% compared to June 2018, in a market rocked by political uncertainty in the United Kingdom.
Truck traffic has fallen 14% to 122,349 "mainly due to the impact of weakness in the automotive sector, which has been slow to restart after spring shutdowns although express courier flows continue to hold up well".
Since 1 January 2018, close to 1,166,000 passenger vehicles have crossed the Channel with the Shuttle, and close to 810,000 trucks with Le Shuttle Freight services, down 2% and 4% respectively compared to the first half of 2018.
