Eurotunnel: savings thanks to new air conditioning
(CercleFinance.com) - Eurotunnel is pleased to announce having made energy savings of 33% over the year, according to official data published after the first season of operation of the new cooling system that maintains requisite temperatures in the Channel Tunnel.
The new system ensures that the surrounding air temperature is maintained at around 25°C, while without constant cooling, the heat generated by TGVs using the tunnel would lead to internal temperatures of over 35°C.
The system is comprised of four high-capacity E Series CenTraVac cold blocks (from 2,600 kW to 14,000 kW) produced by Trane, a leading global supplier of interior comfort solutions and services, a trademark of the company Ingersoll Rand.
