EDF: boosted by increase in electricity prices
(CercleFinance.com) - The EDF share is the biggest winner in SBF 120 index on Friday, following the announcement of a 4% increase in regulated electricity tariffs in France for individuals at the beginning of 2022.
Jean Castex, the French Prime Minister, made the announcement last night during an interview on TF1's news, describing a "limited" increase to be accompanied by measures to protect the purchasing power of the French.
We are going to introduce what I would call a tariff shield for gas and electricity, he said during the interview.
This means that we are going to protect ourselves against these increases, because unfortunately, according to experts, it will continue, the Prime Minister said.
The gas price hike, as already announced, is 12.6%, effective as from today.
