EDF: slab of first British EPR has been cast
(CercleFinance.com) - On Friday morning, EDF Energy, EDF's British subsidiary, said that the concrete slab on which the future first Hinkley Point C EPR reactor will be based, has been cast on time.
A volume of 9,000 m3 of concrete - a record for the UK, which exceeds "The Shard" of London Tower - was used by the joint venture Bouygues-Laing O'Rourke. This is in addition to 5,000 tonnes of Welsh steel.
Although there are delays in the French EPR of Flamanville, for the moment, the first reactor of Hinkley Point C is on schedule, EDF Energy adds. The slab of the second British EPR is then expected to be cast in June 2020.
