EDF: wind farm started up in State of New York

(CercleFinance.com) - On Tuesday EDF Renouvelables in North America announced the commissioning of the Copenhagen wind project, in the counties of Lewis and Jefferson in the north of the State of New York.

This is a project with an installed capacity of 80 MW.

The 40 wind turbines manufactured by Vestas Wind Systems benefit from a 15-year electricity sales agreement with the Narragansett Electric Company, a subsidiary of National Grid. It generated about 200 jobs when built.

At full power, electricity generated by the park will provide electricity to satisfy the average annual consumption of nearly 35,000 homes. As such, this will reduce CO2 emissions by over 177,000 metric tonnes p.a.
