EDF: aims to be a leader in electric mobility

(CercleFinance.com) - EDF Group today announces the launch of its Electric Mobility Plan, which aims - as its name suggests - to make the electricity giant the market leader in electric mobility from 2022 in France, the UK, Italy and Belgium.

In detail, EDF wants to be the leading electricity supplier for electric vehicles, the leading operator of electricity terminal systems and the European leader in "smart charging." "Electric mobility will be experiencing sustained growth in the coming years. The transportation sector is the biggest contributor to greenhouse-gas emissions in Europe1 and, in view of these facts, low-carbon electricity is the future's solution for clean transportation. With an energy mix of which 87% is CO2-free, the EDF Group has a major role to play," the group comments.

As part of this plan, EDF plans to build on several new partnerships, with: NUVVE, a California start-up, Ubitricity, a German start-up, Renault, Toyota, Valeo and Nissan International. "In order to achieve this goal, EDF is building an ecosystem of innovative players by forming strategic partnerships for the large-scale roll-out of the best technologies to support our customers," explains Jean-Bernard Lévy, EDF's Chairman and CEO.
