EDF: postpones connection of Flamanville EPR

(CercleFinance.com) - EDF has come to a compromise on the welding checks for the secondary circuit of the EPR reactor in Flamanville (called Flamanville 3).
This operation should be concluded in the next few days.

The connection of the “new generation” reactor will be postponed by approximately one year.

The French group, with nuclear power as its core business, estimates that 33 of the 148 areas of welding checked (of a total of 150) “are presenting quality issues and will have to be repaired”, and that 20 others will be re-done, even if they have no faults. Finally, of “ten other welding areas, EDF has offered the ASN a specific process of checks to enable the high level of safety of the facility to be assured throughout its operation”.
