EDF: EU Court rejects appeal
(CercleFinance.com) - EDF has announced that the General Court of the European Union today rejected EDF's appeal against the decision by the European Commission on 22 July 2015 qualifying as state aid the tax treatment for provisions created between 1987 and 1996 for the renewal of the structures of the Réseau d'Alimentation Générale (“RAG”).
The European Commission has described as state aid the tax treatment of provisions created between 1987 and 1996 for the renewal of the General Food Network ("RAG") and ordered its recovery by the French State.
Following this decision of the Commission, EDF repaid on 13 October 2015 to the French State the amount of corresponding State aid, i.e. 1.383 billion euros. Since EDF has already reimbursed this sum, the execution of this judgment does not imply any additional payment.
