EDF: solar plant commissioned in Chile
(CercleFinance.com) - On Monday evening EDF Energies Nouvelles announced the commissioning of the Santiago Solar photovoltaic plant, a structure located about 50 kilometres north of Santiago, the capital of Chile.
Made up of some 400,000 modules, it extends over more than 200 hectares and produces enough energy for the annual electricity consumption of more than 90,000 Chilean homes.
Santiago Solar is EDF Energies Nouvelles' second major solar project to produce energy in Chile after the Bolero (146 megawatts peak, MWP) photovoltaic plant, which was commissioned last year. It has a contract to sell electricity to the major Chilean distributors for a period of 15 years.
