EDF: acquisition of solar projects in Nevada.
(CercleFinance.com) - EDF Renewable Energy (EDF RE), a North American subsidiary of the electricity giant EDF, has announced the acquisition of First Solar's Switch Station 1 and 2 solar projects, which represent 179 megawatt AC, at the end of June.
These sites, which are currently being built in Clark County, Nevada, will deliver their power generation to NV Energy's subsidiaries. Their entry into commercial operation is expected respectively at the end of July and the end of September of this year.
In full capacity, Switch Station 1 and 2 will generate enough electricity to meet the consumption of about 46,000 households in Nevada and avoid greenhouse gas emissions of 52,000 passenger vehicles per year.
