EDF: seals deal for a major solar project in Dubai.

(CercleFinance.com) - A deal to fund the 800-megawatt (MW) project, which constitutes the third phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park in Dubai, has just been closed, EDF announced in a press release.

This stage marks the last major milestone for the Masdar-led consortium in partnership with EDF Energies Nouvelles, a subsidiary of the French electricity company, which develops this structure in conjunction with the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA).

Once complete this photovoltaic plant stretching across 16 km2 will be the largest of its kind in the world and will generate around 2.5 million MWh of electricity per year. Contrary to conventional solar parks, the third phase of this project will use inclined panels which follow the sun, maximising its production capacity.
