Alstom: new trains enter service in Barcelona
(CercleFinance.com) - This morning Alstom announced that its new trains for the Barcelona metro operator TMB (Transportes Metropolitanos de Barcelona) have entered commercial service on line 3.
The 50 new metro trains will replace the fleet on lines 1 and 3 of the Barcelona metro.
Following the entry into service of this first train on line 3, the current fleet is planned to be gradually replaced over the coming months. All trains are manufactured locally, at Alstom's industrial site in Santa Perpètua, Barcelona.
Alstom specifies that these new, more durable, efficient and accessible trains are part of a contract awarded to Alstom in October 2019 for the supply of 50 new metro trains, from the Metropolis family, for almost E320m.
