Alstom: unveils design of Montreal REM
(CercleFinance.com) - On Monday, Alstom unveiled the design of the Montréal Réseau Express Metropolitan (REM) train, for which the PMM Group consortium (Groupe des partenaires pour la mobility des Montréalais) will supply 212 carriages.
"The external livery, chosen by the public, was inspired by the new Samuel De Champlain Bridge, with the vehicle's headlights directly recalling the shrouds of the new bridge," Alstom said.
Eventually, REM will be one of the largest automated transport networks in the world, at 67 km long, with 26 stations. It will connect central Montreal to the south bank, the north bank, the West Island and the Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport.
