Alstom: Coradia ilint train rewarded
(CercleFinance.com) - The world's first regional train powered by a fuel cell - Alstom's Coradia iLint - has won the GreenTec Award 2018 in the mobility category by Schaeffler, according to reports on Friday.
The rail group has officially received the award at its largest production facility in Salzgitter (Germany) at an early ceremony held before the GreenTec Awards gala, which is set to be held on 13 May in Munich.
The Coradia iLint is a "zero emission" regional train that is powered by a fuel cell in which hydrogen is converted into electrical energy. Emitting only steam and condensed water, it will begin operations on the Cuxhaven-Bremervörde line later this year.
