Alstom: tests sustainable mobility solution in Netherlands

(CercleFinance.com) - Alstom announced at lunchtime on Monday that it is testing with its 51%-owned subsidiary NTL the innovative 100% electric mobility solution Aptis for 3 weeks in the Netherlands.

Jointly developed by Alstom and NTL, this solution will be tested with the transport company QBuzz in Utrecht, Groningen and Assen, and with Rotterdamse Elektrische Tram (RET) in Rotterdam. The first operational trial, which lasts one week, begins on Monday in Utrecht, before Rotterdam, between 16 and 20 April. The tour will then continue in Groningen from 23 to 27 April, and then in Assen, from 30 April to 3 May.

This solution may be recharged at the depot at night, although note that Alstom also offers a charging solution at the end of each line during the day. With lower maintenance and operating costs and longer bus life (20 years), Aptis' total cost of ownership is equivalent to that of today's diesel buses.
