Alstom: manufactures the first 20 trains for Prasa.
(CercleFinance.com) - Alstom has announced completing the manufacture of the first 20 X'Ttrapolis Mega trains for PRASA (Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa).
This delivery is part of the “4 billion euro contract, signed in 2013 to supply 600 X'Ttrapolis Mega trains over 10 years to PRASA (Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa) for the revitalisation of the rail industry in South Africa,” the group said.
To deliver the remaining 580 trains, Gibela (the joint venture led by Alstom), in collaboration with two local companies, Ubumbano Rail and New Africa Rail, is currently building a 600,000 square metre plant in Dunnottar, 50 kilometres from Johannesburg.
