Engie: opens R&D platform off coast of Singapore
(CercleFinance.com) - Engie has inaugurated a Sustainable Power for Offgrid Regions (SPORE) platform on Semakau Island, off the coast of Singapore.
The site is intended to become a living laboratory, used by Engie and its partners (the Energy Research Institute of Nanyang University of Technology and Schneider Electric) to test different renewable technologies, including green hydrogen, while offering training programs and proving that a 100% renewable micro-grid is possible.
This platform will help accelerate the transition to a carbon-neutral economy, Engie says. This project is expected to be the first of a series of experimental R&D tests that Engie will set up in Southeast Asia.
