Engie: windfarm platform developed in India with Abraaj.

(CercleFinance.com) - Engie and the Abraaj group have entered into a partnership to build a wind platform in India.

This partnership is intended to meet the high and increasing demand for clean energy from the Indian government and Indian companies.
Electricity consumption in India is expected to grow by 9% year-on-year until 2020. The Indian government's target of reaching 60 GW of wind capacity by 2022 means that production assets (32 GW) will almost have to be doubled over the next five years, from current capacity of 32 GW over the next five years.
Sébastien Arbola, CEO of ENGIE Middle East, South & Central Asia and Turkey, commented, "Energy demand is growing tremendously in India, and ENGIE is investing in green energy sources as part of supporting the country with its sustainable development plans."
