Iliad: towards launch of a Freebank?

(CercleFinance.com) - Once again, on Monday the press is talking about a rumour mentioning the launch, by Free, subsidiary of Iliad group, of mobile banking services.

The reason? The acquisition, identified by the Mind Fintech website, of the right won, on 24 October from the Prudential Supervisory and Resolution Authority (ACPR), to deploy account aggregation (AISP) and payment initiation services (PISP) by Iliad 78, a subsidiary of the group. In other words, this means the possibility of providing a current account and means of payment.

The launch of an online bank by the French telecom group therefore seems imminent. Indeed in the 2000s Free had already filed the "Freebank" brand. More recently, in September, Iliad 78 obtained a SWIFT code, an international identification number reserved for banks.
