Orange: launches two new digital centers in Africa
(CercleFinance.com) - Orange today announced the launch of two new "Orange Digital Centers", in Côte d'Ivoire and Cameroon, in order to make digital technology more accessible and support the development of the continent's digital ecosystem.
According to the company, these digital centres are "real crossroads of opportunities": in one place they offer four programs designed to foster the development of the digital ecosystem in Africa, namely a code school, a digital manufacturing workshop FabLab Solidaire, a start-up accelerator (Orange Fab) and Orange Ventures Africa, the Orange group's investment fund.
As part of its Engage 2025 strategic plan, Orange has committed to deploying an Orange Digital Center in each of the countries where it operates by 2025.
To date, eight Orange Digital Centers have already been opened in the region: Tunisia, Senegal, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Morocco and Mali. Other centers will be opened in the other countries through to 2022, the company said.
