Renault: Carlos Ghosn resigned yesterday

(CercleFinance.com) - Carlos Ghosn, who is still in prison in Japan, yesterday resigned from his position as Chairman and CEO of the Renault group, according to Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy, who spoke on the Bloomberg TV channel from Davos.

It is now time to prepare for the future of Renault and the Alliance (Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi, ed.) by setting up a new governance, the minister said. It will therefore be up to Renault's Board of Directors, which is meeting this morning, to take note of this decision. According to many sources, this "new governance" is expected to be entrusted to Thierry Bolloré as CEO, and Jean-Dominique Senard as group chairman.

A new application for bail by Carlos Ghosn was rejected by the Tokyo court on Tuesday. Mr Ghosn, who has headed the French car maker for nearly 15 years, has been held in Japan since 19 November.
